Ainsley McNeely
I'm a full time artist dividing my time mostly between the US southeast & Montana/Wyoming. I spend a lot of time in the field- photographing or plein-air painting. I work primarily in oil, casein, pastel, graphite, watercolor & ink (plus generally one sculpture a year). I also paint miniatures and am a co-founder of my state's miniature art society. I am a Lyme survivor and in my spare time I do rehab work with animals.

Current Residence: USA
Favorite genre of music: all kinds!
Art Galleries & Artists of the South has an article about me in their current issue (Vol 10, issue 2) -Yea!!

Thank you so much for joining my group, heavenlybackyardbird!!!  It started out as a little group for my love of common birds, but just exploded with my love of other things too as you can tell by all my folders. I hope you enjoy all the great Photos and art  in the group and I am again honored to have you as a member!!  Looking forward to your submissions!!

I started out as a museum curator doing art in my spare time, then started teaching art & painting part time, now I am a full time artist. It is important to learn a lot about art as a business and contracts  (as well as being able to meet deadlines for commissions) & build a good portfolio if you want to eventually go full-time! You also need to know a good bit about promotion,  advertising, & basic accounting. There are quite a few good books out these days that help.  & build contacts!
